You have found a creative space. This website showcases my many forms of creative practice from painting to embroidery and jewellery. I hope to inspire people to try something different and move out of their comfort zone by engaging in one of my workshops or just being inspired to try something different. My Story
Who am I?
I am a mother, grandmother, creative practitioner and teacher.
I recently retired from a 40 year full time career as an academic and manager in Art & Design Higher Education.
For many years I worked at the London College of Fashion. I have been an adviser on international projects for the EU, The British Council and UNIDO and acted as an external examiner and curriculum advisor for many UK and International Universities with a focus on fashion/ textiles and art and design.
I spent the last 10 years working in Asia, including 8+ years at RMIT Vietnam where I held roles as the Dean of the School of Communication & Design and Interim Pro Vice Chancellor.
In April 2026 I relocated to Plymouth, UK where I now have my studio/workshop and I am entering what I call my third life. I am enjoying spending my time with my family, engaging in my creative practice and passing on skills to others.
I also support local community projects such as the Repair Cafe ( Time Bank SouthWest ) and I offer discounted workshops to registered charities.
My Qualitfications
I trained in fashion and textiles and have a bachelors degree in Fashion/ Textiles, a masters degree in design from the Royal College of Art, and a doctoral degree in Education. I am a Principal Fellow of the HE Academy and a Fellow of the Textile Institute.
My Philosophy
I believe that everyone can be creative and that engaging in creative practice is a route to well being and happiness.
In my workshops I focus on experimental techniques that build confidence and creativity without judgement. Learning should be fun and we are never too old to try something new.
My work is not based in a single discipline, I express my ideas in painting, acrylic and watercolour, textiles, jewellery and through mixed media.
Most of my work is inspired by nature and my love of the ocean.
Through my work I hope to raise awareness about the beauty and fragility of the environment and to promote the integration of traditional skills with technology.
I try to use sustainable practice whenever possible,whilst realising that anything we create has an impact and that we can only try to reduce that impact and create things that are beautiful and lasting
I integrate found materials and waste into my processes whenever I can and recycle my leftover materials through the local scrap project so they can be used by others.
I love collaborating with and supporting other creatives and artists.
